Simultaneously, Patrick introduced trauma-informed care and suicide prevention training and support throughout the school community. These efforts have opened up important dialogues, breaking down the stigma around discussing difficult emotions and seeking help when needed.
Keep Oregon Well in Schools
On his very first day at POIC + Rosemary Anderson High School, Patrick Studdert-Kennedy embarked on a new adventure, thanks to the generous support of the M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust. As the program coordinator for the Keep Oregon Well initiative run by Trillium Family Services, Patrick eagerly explored the school's hallways, ready to make a positive impact.
He warmly introduced himself to students, educators, staff, and families, kickstarting a student-led mental health leadership and advocacy program. A group of enthusiastic students stepped up to lead activities, fostering a healthier school culture and even sparking interest in mental and behavioral health careers.
In a remarkable turn of events, just one year later, Patrick secured a full-time role at POIC + RAHS as an academic advisor, perfectly embodying the grant's mission to nurture the next generation of mental health advocates. Keep Oregon Well continues to shine as a beacon of hope, shaping a brighter, healthier future for a close-knit community.
