Steps to take before calling 9-1-1 or 9-8-8

1.      Take 3 Deep Breaths & Review your Safety Plan and Coping Strategies

2.      Contact your County Crisis Line, 9-8-8 or 9-1-1

3.      In the event you do call an emergency line listed above, indicate that it is a mental health emergency by using the language provided below:

·        “I am calling with a mental health emergency for myself/my_____ year old child”

·        “I/They need someone with mental health training”

·        “I/They are experiencing _______ symptoms”
