Portugal. The Man performed on the Keep Oregon Well stage at Skype Live Studio recently to talk wellness and play a few songs from their upcoming album, Woodstock.
We discussed wellness on the road, community mindfulness, and the significance of the album’s title. Woodstock‘s title came to be when frontman John Gourley stumbled upon his father’s original 1969 Woodstock music festival ticket stub. The evidence of such a historic musical moment in time lead Gourley to realize that nearly 50 years later, the mission of music is the same now as it was then, “to comment on societal and political unease. Trying to write music that would help people feel they’re not alone, even if they’re angry or feeling lost.” commented Gourley.
