We are so excited to once again thank SELCO Community Credit Union and its employees, who have been so supportive of our Chrysalis Program. As a sponsor once again for the 2018-2019 school year, it is clear that supporting youth, Trauma-Informed interventions and education are of importance to this local business.
Chrysalis is one of Trillium’s preventative programs that provides evidence-based therapeutic support groups to young women who have experienced trauma or emotional abuse. Specifically, Chrysalis provides support to over 100 girls throughout high schools in the Metro and Mid-Willamette Valley regions. In addition to helping teens develop healthy coping strategies, the program also serves to support group members’ academic success.
SELCO Community Credit Union covering the special activities costs for Roosevelt High School’s Chrysalis group. Their support provides the opportunity for the young women at this school to participate in yoga sessions, self-defense classes, and visit a team building training course. Each of these activities boosts members’ self-empowerment and provides hands-on opportunities for them to practice skills they are actively learning in group.

The Chrysalis program is sustained by private philanthropic support, including local foundations, private donors and annual events. We very much want to thank SELCO for supporting Chrysalis once again and helping these young women break the cycle of abuse. It is truly remarkable that these students, who may have entered the Chrysalis program behind academically and with limited emotional support, have demonstrated such a positive transformation.
