What is DBT?

DBT is an evidence-based practice and trauma-informed therapy that helps teenagers with challenging emotions and related destructive behaviors.

What is DBT with Horses?

The DBT with Horses Program is an innovative curriculum that enables youth of all ages to develop a deeper understanding of the skills learned in Dialectical Behavior Therapy by practicing specific lessons alongside the horses.

Our purpose

Our mission is to provide clients with a new and interesting setting to practice DBT skills. By providing a different perspective and fun experiences, clients gain a better understanding of the DBT concepts and increase their interest in treatment.

How does it work?

DBT teaches young people how to be in control of their emotions, thoughts, and behaviors through specific coping skills. Each DBT with Horses session emphasizes one set of coping skills. The program works well in conjunction with traditional DBT skills training and classes by providing an active and unique opportunity for clients to practice skills while working with peers, DBT instructors, and the horses.
