The #KeepOregonWell Street Team was overwhelmed by the attendance at the Portland Out of the Darkness Community Walk. Over 1,937 people participated in the walk to raise awareness and funds for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention – Oregon Chapter. Money raised is invested in new research, educational programs, and to support survivors of suicide loss.
The AFSP states, “Stigma surrounding suicide leads to underreporting, and data collection methods critical to suicide prevention need to be improved.” Keep Oregon Well is committed to fighting the stigma against mental and behavioral health. We sponsored the Portland and Salem Out of the Darkness Walks to support the work the Oregon Chapter of the AFSP does to Keep Oregon Well. Overall, the Portland walk raised $116,118.90 to fund suicide prevention work in Oregon!
