Lobby Day in Salem

Tuesday February 13

9:00 – 3:00 pm

State Capitol

Our goal is to have 100 people from around the state convene in Salem to advocate and educate. Specifically, in meeting with legislators, our volunteer teams will:

1.  Introduce Oregon Recovers to legislators as a new voice for the recovery community.

2.  Educate legislators about the broad, destructive impacts of untreated addiction.

3.  Advocate for the development of a recovery-based, continuum of care that recognizes addiction as a chronic disease which requires a lifetime of care

4.  Advocate for HB4137-1 (“Addiction Prevention, Treatment & Recovery Strategic Planning Act” see talking points below) and HB4143 (Governor’s Task Force on Opioids Legislation).

Oregon Recovers will team you up with other advocates, make all appointments with legislators, reimburse transportation costs, provide lunch, and train you on what to say in each meeting. You can expect to meet with 2-3 legislators and participate in a press event at noon.

Advocacy is a crucial step towards the transformation of the fractured addiction recovery system in Oregon. Transformation cannot occur if people like you and I don’t come forward, tell our story, and demand change.
