SQL Report Writer

Location: Portland - Parry Center for Children

Job Summary:  Under general supervision, the SSRS Report Writer is responsible for development (designing, developing, coding, testing, and debugging) of assigned SSRS reports in accordance with business requirements in support of the Electronic Health Record (EHR). The SQL Report Writer role will review documented report specifications, clarify requirement ambiguity, develop report output, and test the reports to confirm data accuracy. May also participate in QA or UAT testing as requested.


Demonstrates Competency in the Following Areas:  
Create and modify reports and report templates using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
Develop, implement, troubleshoot, and maintain complex T-SQL queries and stored procedures.
Participate in business analysis activities to gather required reporting and dashboard requirements.
Translate business requirements into specifications that will be used to implement the required report and dashboards, created from potentially multiple data sources.
Research required data and data relationships.
Follow complex procedures and explain technical solutions to a wide range of users.
Provide support as required to ensure the availability and performance of developed reports and dashboards. Troubleshoot issues reported by users to correct report defects / anomalies.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or other technical or related field or equivalent knowledge and experience. Microsoft SQL certification is a plus.


Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Maintain a driving record acceptable by the agency and a current driver’s license for state of residence, when authorized to use own vehicle for agency business, employee must maintain personal insurance.

 Experience: Minimum of 2 years experience developing and implementing reports using SSRS, using T-SQL to develop and maintain SSRS reports and working with users in a requirements analysis role.

Job Knowledge: Team player with excellent communication skills and have the ability to manage assignments independently. Operates and makes decisions within established guidelines, organizational policy and procedure, federal, state, and local laws, rules and regulations. Job involves a moderate degree of complexity in that employee deals with highly sensitive and confidential information.
