Job Summary:  Responsible for maintaining the financial and accounting records of the campuses and locations assigned.  Position prepares monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements, related reports and analyses for review by management.  In tandem with management, develops the annual operating and capital budget for the campuses and locations assigned. Job duties includes coordinating the consolidation of the Trillium Family Services annual operating and capital budgets. Oversees development fund accounts for the campuses and locations assigned.  Prepares consolidated financial reports for TFS on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. In concert with the VP of Finance and Chief Administrative Officer, provides financial and budgetary information to assist operations in making sound, timely decisions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Demonstrates Competency in the Following Areas:  
Directs and participates in the development of accounting and internal control policies and systems.
Maintain accounting and fund accounting records on a monthly basis in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles;
Assist with developing and maintaining the annual operating and capital budgets.
Maintain necessary internal controls to safeguard assets and insure accurate reporting of financial results;
Prepare monthly financial statements for management and insure timely reporting of significant financial transactions, issues, and/or potential problems;
Develop and maintain systems for consistent dissemination of actual/budget reports to cost center managers. Provide periodic feedback to cost center managers regarding performance to established goals;
Prepare financial reports necessary to meet federal, state and local government requirements;
Actively engage in the annual audit, including prepare the annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP, ensure all reconciliations and requests made by the auditors are completed timely and accurately, coordinate audit requests between departments to ensure the audit is completed timely, and within budget.
Ensure the operation of the Finance Office in a manner which is consistent with excellent customer services and stated organizational goals and objectives;
Provides advice and assistance to department heads and managers in analyzing and interpreting financial data and reports and in presenting that information to their departments.
Completes all assigned staff evaluations in a timely manner;
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidation of results for TFS;
Coordinate consolidation of annual operating and capital budgets for TFS;
Assists Chief Administration Officer and Vice President of Finance in the development of system-wide accounting policies and procedures.
Ensures that accurate information is provided on a timely basis and assists, as needed, in facilitating the efficient conduct of external audits, examinations and related financial projects.
Ensures that a monthly time schedule is established for the processing of computer reports necessary for the preparation of monthly financial statements; implements corrective action as necessary to meet established deadlines.
Consistently develops a detailed plan of action prior to implementation of a new procedure.
Regularly examines alternative methods of providing required accounting services in order to reduce departmental operating costs.
Promotes good staffing practices by maximizing the utilization of human resources; forecasts and anticipates the personnel needs of the department with regard to fluctuations in the projected workload; holds staffing at a functional minimum.
Consistently demonstrates the ability to establish appropriate departmental priorities.
Demonstrates effectiveness in pulling together all the necessary information needed to compare revenue and expenses and determine the facility’s actual financial position.

Demonstrated knowledge of computerized accounting systems and ability to utilize automated systems in the preparation and production of financial statements and budgets;
Demonstrated ability to utilize standard PC software such as Excel and Word;
Demonstrated ability to work independently, without close supervision, process high volumes of transactions in a highly-accurate manner, and produce reports on a timely basis;
Demonstrated ability to possess an understanding and appreciation of Accounting as a service function, provide excellent customer service within the organization;

Additional Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Provides direct supervision to assigned staff and interviews applicants and hire or recommend hiring, depending upon position to fill. Issues verbal and written warnings to assigned staff and recommends additional discipline up to and including termination. Prepares performance evaluations of assigned staff and approves staff’s requests for time off.

Education: Four year degree in accounting or business administration with an emphasis in accounting; CPA or MBA preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Maintain a driving record acceptable by the agency and a current driver’s license for state of residence, when authorized to use own vehicle for agency business, employee must maintain personal insurance

Experience: Four years of financial management experience. Supervisory experience required.

Job Knowledge: Work involves complex and diverse tasks and situations, as well as routine and repetitive administrative tasks. Work is reviewed by the Chief Financial Officer and Director of Finance. Position has operating budget accountability for the Business Office cost center.

Skills: Computer skills; word processing, data entry, spreadsheets and accounting software
