Mental Health Nurse – CFHLocation: Corvallis - Children's Farm Home

Schedule: 30-40 hours / week; AON/TBD (NEW GRADS WELCOME)
Job Summary: Responsible for providing pediatric nursing services to adolescents in a psychiatric residential treatment center, in compliance with federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations and Trillium Family Services policies. Conducts in-service training for staff on healthcare topics.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
|Demonstrates Competency in the Following Areas:|
|Assist in providing medical care for all clients, ensuring that Federal, State and local health requirements are met;|
|Function as a liaison between Trillium Family Services and the medical community and hospitals;|
|Maintain accurate medical records for each client, including medical treatment plans, progress notes and 90 day reviews when indicated;|
|Conduct employee in-service training in CPR, First Aid, medications and infection control;|
|Participate in the organization’s TQM/CQI process, serving on committees as required;|
|Ensure the compliance of TFS health services with Joint Commission and DARTS standards;|
|Assess the medical needs of clients and provide patient care and referral as indicated;|
|Assist in coordinating the scheduling of clients for necessary medical appointments in the community;|
|Organize weekly medical and psychiatric clinics, as necessary;|
|Monitor and review the M.D.’s medication orders on a weekly basis and monitor and document the administration of medications to clients by program staff to ensure that dispensation is appropriate;|
|Provide education and counseling to clients about health issues and personal responsibility for health and hygiene;|
|Provide nursing assessment upon admission, which includes a communicable disease screening of new clients, developing an initial medical treatment plan and following up on identified health care concerns.|
|Assist in conducting annual EPSDT exams and Snellens, quarterly height and weight measurements, and six month dental exams for all clients;|
|Communicate regularly with treatment team members regarding clients’ health status;|
|Assist in coordinating sanitation, nutrition and pharmacy services;|
|Ensure that community based health care providers are prepared for the special needs of clients referred from TFS by providing information and/or training;|
|Assist in the development, implementation and monitoring of emergency services and protocols for client care;|
|Maintain first aid kits, emergency and medical supplies;|
|Assist in developing, implementing and monitoring medication, medical and general health-related policies and procedures;|
|Assess and evaluate clients who are trauma and abuse victims and provide on-call services for medical crisis management;|
|Acts as the Clinical Responder for crisis situations that occur on the secure unit, completing documentation as required in a timely manner (only applicable for B.S.N. prepared RN’s).|
|Complete all training required for the position|

Education: Associate degree in nursing. Preference for candidates with BS in Nursing.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) or LPN Licensure in the State of Oregon; maintain a driving record acceptable by the agency and a current driver’s license for state of residence, when authorized to use own vehicle for agency business, employee must maintain personal insurance
Experience: Two (2) years as psychiatric/pediatric nurse preferred. Preference for candidates with experience in a residential treatment setting. New Grads encouraged to apply.
Job Knowledge: Contributes to the development of new concepts. Most work is routine with occasional new tasks involving a high degree of complexity. Operates within established guidelines and/or legal requirements, standing orders from an M.D., this position description, professional standards of medical practices, and agency policy. Performs duties with little direction given.
