 Main purpose of the Network Administrator role: Responsible for the technical specification, evaluation, and recommendations for connectivity with respect to client networks at corporate offices and field locations. This encompasses all areas of enterprise-wide connectivity and will include system configuration, troubleshooting, security, and monitoring. Remote support and on-call hours may be required on a rotational basis.

Demonstrates Competency in the Following Areas:

  • Implementation and maintenance of core networking devices including firewalls, switches, routers, wireless controllers, and access points.
  • Implementation and maintenance of wide area and local area networks to ensure correct functionality and configuration at remote client locations.
  • Create and maintain documentation as it relates to network configuration, network mapping, processes, and service record.
  • Monitor network devices, services, and servers using a combination of tools to ensure high availability.
  • Monitor security hardware and software systems for events needing actionable response.
  • Inform management of potential network architecture/design problems before they occur and communicate solutions.
  • Schedule, complete and document periodic security threat assessments of organization hardware, infrastructure, and applications.
  • Evaluate and document security risk assessments of new applications and programs prior to installation or upgrade.
  • Provide support of daily IT operations by assisting with Level 2/3 problem analysis, user help desk support, and service desk ticket resolution.
  • Troubleshoot and solve complex network connectivity issues, diagnosing problems and taking the appropriate corrective measures to ensure an expedient resolution.
  • Coordinate the maintenance of server resources including installation and upgrades to physical and virtual Windows Server systems.

Professional Requirements:

  • Maintain working technical knowledge of networking equipment, services, common networking protocols and internet standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to explore and solve problems logically and consistently.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proven experience with LAN & WAN configuration and implementation.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to complete assigned tasks in a timely manner with minimal oversight or supervision.
  • Knowledge of Windows 10 Operating System, Windows Server 2012-2019, Exchange 2013/2016, Office 365 and Active Directory.
  • Detailed knowledge of the HIPAA regulations (particularly the HIPAA Security Rule) as it applies in a healthcare environment.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:    Other duties may be assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field. Appropriate additional experience beyond the minimum required experience may be substituted for education.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Appropriate certifications such as Network+, Security+, CCNA certificates are preferred. Position requires valid driver’s license for the state of residence, proof of personal auto insurance and an acceptable driving record.

Experience: Minimum of 3 years’ relevant work experience in network administration or similar role. Proven experience and success with local and wide-area network configuration and implementation. Advanced technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and internet standards.

Job Knowledge: Operates and makes decisions within established guidelines, organizational policy and procedure, federal, state, and local laws, rules and regulations.  Job involves a moderate degree of complexity in that employee deals with highly sensitive and confidential information.  Work is normally reviewed by the VP of Technology or designee.

Skills: Experience with Windows Server 2012-2019, Microsoft Active Directory, Firewall administration (SonicWALL preferred), Office 365 administration, backup and recovery, network segmentation using VLAN’s
