Job Summary: Responsible for oversight of the Health Services Department. Oversight includes assuring the department and practices adhere to regulatory requirements, assuring supervision and training of personnel, managing a fiscally responsible department, and providing direct service as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities:
|Demonstrates Competency in the Following Areas:|
|Provide supervision to Health Services and the Nursing staff; evaluate staff performance as indicated and manages staffing plans. Will provide individual and group supervision to all direct reports and maintain documentation of such as per regulatory requirements|
|Provide supervision to nursing students during clinical rotations; evaluate performance and assign preceptors.|
|Oversees accuracy of documentation of client medical records.|
|Oversees the administration of medicines to clients and the guidelines for infection control; and coordinate employee in-service training.|
|Keeps the Nursing Administrator and Vice President informed regarding circumstances or situations which have or may have serious impact.|
|Assess and evaluate trauma and abuse incidents and provide on-call services for medical crisis management.|
|Participate in the organization and department CQI process, serving on the Program, Quality, and Leadership Councils.|
|Assess nursing program and implement quality improvement processes for nursing care delivered to clients.|
|Recommend changes to TFS Health Services programs, policies and procedures that assess, evaluate and meet the needs of the patient and to assist staff and minimize risks factor.|
|Implements standards of nursing practice reviewing and revising as necessary to insure compliance with Joint Commission and accrediting agencies standards to reflect changes in nursing practice and patient population.|
|Implements and supports cultural practices as long as such practices do not harm others or interfere with the planned course of medical therapy.|
|Participates in clinical leadership, professional staff committees pertaining to patient care; and medical staff departmental meetings relating to the organization’s decision-making process.|
|Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills.|
|Function as a TFS Health Services liaison to designated members of the medical community.|
|Oversee delivery of medical care for all clients and maintains close coordination with all departments to insure continuity and collaboration of services.|
|Plans and recommends to Vice President new facilities or equipment or modifications thereto needed to provide patient care.|
|Oversees all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.|
|Plans and coordinates with the Vice President departmental budgeting requirements; and controls cost to insure maximum effectiveness of funds expended from approved departmental budgets.|
|Adheres to dress code, appearance is neat and clean.|
|Completes annual education requirements.|
|Maintains regulatory requirements, including all state, federal and JCAHO regulations.|
|Maintains and ensures patient confidentiality at all times.|
|Reports to work on time and as scheduled.|
|Wears identification while on duty.|
|Attends annual review and performs departmental in-services.|
|Works at maintaining a good rapport and a cooperative working relationship with physicians, departments and staff.|
|Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.|
|Attends committee, CQI and management meetings, as appropriate.|
|Resolves personnel concerns at the departmental level, utilizing the grievance process as required.|
|Ensures compliance with policies and procedures regarding department operations, fire, safety, infection control and emergency management.|
|Effectively and consistently communicates administrative directive to personnel and encourages interactive departmental meetings and discussions.|
|Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.|
|Communicates the mission, ethics and goals of the agency as well as the focus statement of the department.|

Regulatory Requirements: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Current Oregon State License as a registered nurse. A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in healthcare management or nursing, Master’s preferred with a minimum of five (5) years prior experience in patient care services.
Language Skills: Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Additional languages preferred.
Skills: Basic computer knowledge.
