Main purpose of the Clinical Supervisor role:   Provide clinical supervision and oversight to Outpatient child and family therapists, prevention specialists and skills trainers as assigned.  Assess and monitor risk and safety issues of clients seen by supervisees.  Provide administrative supervision to therapists and skills trainers on the Outpatient team.  Monitor therapist’s clinical assessments, interventions, and all ongoing clinical documentation. Monitor and approve all therapists treatment plans and treatment plan reviews.  Teach or support therapists in learning appropriate interventions to use in therapy with clients and families.  Track and coach therapists in improving and/or maintaining their productivity and time management.  This position may provide family, individual and group therapy, interviews clients and families and develops a comprehensive psychosocial assessment of new clients. Responsible for the development and maintenance of the Individual Plan of Care (IPC) and incorporating and integrating assessment data from other professionals and caregivers involved in the child’s case.  Provides conflict resolution and crisis intervention assistance to families and clients as needed. Provides clinical leadership and supervision to the Outpatient Team. Provide licensure supervision for Outpatient team members.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Provide on-going supervision, consultation, training and education to other team members regarding therapeutic interventions, case management and aftercare;
  • Provide or support staff in providing oral and written consultation to personnel of courts, DHS, Mental Health, insurance companies, juvenile departments, community review boards, schools and other youth serving community organizations, regarding therapeutic interventions;
  • Support staff in development of necessary social supports for clients and families in their communities, including recommending, coordinating and facilitating treatment interventions and referrals to other treatment resources;
  • Review staff’s written documentation of client progress toward achievement of treatment plan goals and objectives;
  • May conduct group, family and individual therapy;
  • Provide Community Services Manager with weekly productivity tracking of all staff and follow up with staff in a timely manner regarding feedback to staff with low productivity.
  • Perform or monitor the performance by staff of risk assessments for suicide, sex offending, fire setting, victimization, homicide, substance abuse, etc.;
  • Ensures all staff in assigned department have completed training in a timely manner;
  • Completes all assigned staff evaluations in a timely  manner;
  • Completes all training required for the position;
  • Monitor the completion of comprehensive assessment and treatment planning of clients;
  • Monitor and maintain agency standards to meet state & accreditation Outpatient Standards of Care in treatment and clinical documentation. Completes all Quality Council Presentations.
  • Provide crisis support and consultation to staff of Outpatient team;
  • Develop goals and corrective strategies for employees with performance issues;
  • Supports building relationships with community partners such as School Administration and staff;
  • Position may be asked provide licensure supervision to Outpatient staff.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:  Provides clinical supervision to assigned staff. Prepares performance evaluations of assigned staff and approves staff’s time off.  Provides administrative supervision to Outpatient team.
  • QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirement(s) listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Education: Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or other field which qualifies the candidate to be a licensed professional counselor/clinical social worker/ psychologist or marriage & family therapist in the State of Oregon.
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Is licensed in the State of Oregon as a licensed professional counselor/ clinical social worker/ psychologist or marriage & family therapist.   Maintain a driving record acceptable by the agency and a current driver’s license for state of residence.  When authorized to use own vehicle for agency business, employee must maintain personal insurance.
  • Experience: Two years experience in an outpatient mental health treatment facility, or hospital, residential or day treatment settings providing counseling services to children, adolescents, and families.  Experience providing mental health treatment in a school based setting preferred.
  • Job Knowledge: Within accepted therapeutic standards and guidelines and Trillium Family Services policy, procedure, determines own therapeutic practices and techniques,.  Contributes input to program and new concept development.  Work is routinely performed within the task areas defined above, is complex and involves assessment and therapeutic decisions, which directly impact the progress and emotional well-being of clients. Community Services Director, Clinical Supervisor and Medical Director routinely review case notes and the treatment plan recommendations.  Therapeutic interactions with clients in family, group or individual sessions are monitored and reviewed by the Clinical Supervisor.  Working knowledge of evidenced-based practices is preferred.
  • Skills: Computer skills: word processing and data entry.
